Markers are for Paper...

One of the skills that Isabella should have mastered by her first birthday was to be able to hold a marker or pen and scribble on a piece of paper. As one can see, she definitely mastered the marker part, she just neglected to get it on the paper. She was none too thrilled to have the marker stripped from her little hand and reminded that markers are for paper...not bodies!
If you're wondering where the body marks are, there is one on her face and one by her belly button. Click the picture to see it better!

You did not punish my Isabella did you?

I merely reminded her that we do not draw on our bodies. She just produced a few tears when I got the camera...

Well...I understand the lesson. But I must say you must be fast! My kids have done the same thing, expect they have lots of marks before I catch them. So, way to go! And I love the tears, they really can turn them on whenever they need them.

She looks sooo sad! Poor, poor Isabella! It's sooo much more fun to write on bodies as opposed to paper, right?

... Or, markers are for bodies. You know, MY kids NEVER wrote on their bodies with markers. Oh wait, instead, they wrote on the CARPET and the WALLS. Yup. No perfection at this house! It's a write of passage, isn't it? (Pun totally intended!)

Once when Ryan was about two we visited a friend in Wisconsin. We set up his playpen in her office. Ooops, didn't realize it was so close to the bookshelf that had a package of markers on it. He was very colorful by the time nap time was over. It was straight to the bath, what a mess!
