The Backyard Reveal!

In order to get the HOA off our backs, we finally got the backyard landscaping/patio DONE!!! It took several weeks, but was totally worth it! Now we just have to wait for the sod to grow roots, and we'll be outside ALL the time! The girls are so excited and already love their new patio! Yay!

We're In

The closing was on Friday and we moved everything in on Saturday. Now, we're weeding through a sea of boxes, but it's totally worth it! Pictures to come soon!

Almost there....

Alright, I know it has been way too long since I've updated, and I have so much to write about, I almost don't even know where to begin.

When I left for Iowa, the house had just been drywalled and taped. However, since then, the exterior has been painted, the landscaping has been started in the front, and the inside has changed drastically! The walls have been textured and painted. The trim is all on. The doors have been hung. The hard floors (tile and linoleum) are down. The toilets and bathtubs are in place. The cabinets are in. The counters are on. The sinks and faucets are set. The light fixtures have been hung. And, the switch plates and outlet plates are all in place. Plus, the stain is on the railings!

Woo hoo! There's not much more to do! Anthony stopped by yesterday and said that the garage door opener was also working! I know we need mirrors, door knobs, and carpet, but other than that, there is just not a lot more to do! So exciting!

Here are a few pictures of the progress, and I promise I'll get some pictures and stories of the girls and our Iowa adventures!

The Painted House

The paint is on, the walls are textured. Now, it's time for floors and trim and cabinets and counters and tile and all of the final details! 34 days and counting!

We Have Walls!

Woo hoo! As of Thursday evening, all of the dry wall has been installed - even in the garage! The crew should be mudding and taping, and before we know it, we'll be moving in! Our official close date will be (drumroll please...) SEPTEMBER 10th!!!

We can hardly wait!

The pictures are small because I was trying to fit two on each line, which didn't seem to work, but, if you click on the photos, they will enlarge and you can read the details about each one.

A Minor Set Back...

Front of the House

Front Room with dry wall and insulation

Family Room looking at fireplace

Family Room looking up to Master Bedroom

So, the good news is that the house is still moving along. The sad news is that it's not exactly on schedule. We had been told that our close date would be on August 31st, but that has now been pushed back to September 10th. This wouldn't be such a problem except that Isabella's birthday party was going to be our big "unveiling".

Oh well ... this date is still not set in stone, so it could be moved up (not likely) or pushed back (a huge possibility). Our gracious hosts have extended our welcome in their home, and so we continue to sit tight and wait. We'll keep you posted!

The Outside

So, as you can see, the siding is complete, the shingles are up, and the stone is on! The roof has also been finished, so now they are starting to focus on the interior of the house. Sometime in the next few days they will begin insulating, and then the dry-wall goes up. After the dry-wall, the painters will come out and paint the exterior the colors we chose.

Yay! Their still telling us end of August, so we'll see...

Making Progress!!!

Progress continues to be made on our house! They have started putting the siding up, and although it won't be painted for awhile, it's at least starting to feel more and more like our home.

The plumbing and hvac stuff have started going in, and electrical will be happening soon! We are supposed to meet again with the builder sometime in the middle of July for our pre-drywall meeting. We will take tons of pictures so that we know where the wiring is.

Everything's moving along! It's so exciting. Every time we stop by the house, something new has happened. Although it's super hot, it's not raining, so the work can continue! Yay!

The Roof...

...the roof, the roof is on!!!!

I don't want to say fire, because that would set us back instead of allowing for more progress!

When I stopped by the house this afternoon I noticed a giant crane hauling our rafters from one side of the street to the top of our house! By the time Anthony got there tonight with the camera, the roof was already on!

I think the next step is the stairs (ha!). They come fully assembled and ready for installation. They've been sitting in our "yard" for the past week or so. I have no idea if this assumption is correct, but I would guess they will be going in some time in the near future.

If These Walls Could Talk

That's right! We have walls! The rain last week set us back a little bit, but on Tuesday, the framing packages were delivered, and on Wednesday they started framing. Anthony took these pictures on Thursday night. It's amazing how much was done in a day and a half!

It's amazing to think that this will soon look like this:
