A Hot Date

With Anthony being in graduate school, our nights alone are few and far between. So, when the Denver Post salesman came knocking at our door and enticing us with "free Rockies tickets", we jumped on it! I had been wanting to get the paper for the coupons, and my promising to save money made Anthony's eyes light up! After chasing down the salesmen, we were handed the 2 vouchers for a Rockies game! We were both really looking forward to the game and the time away!

Imagine our disappointment when the weather forecast was predicting Sunday temperatures reaching 100 degrees!!! After a moment of debate, we both decided to continue as planned. The Rockies had already won 3 of the 4 games in the series, and were really looking good, so, dressed in our light, summer clothes, away we went!

During our drive down to Coors Field, we watched the thermometer in his car steadily rise: 103 degrees; 104 degrees; 105 degrees! Are you kidding me??? I'm already a furnace without Mother Nature's elements! But, we trooped on! We parked the car, and we were on our way. Lucky for us, it was almost as if the Heavens were watching out for us.

As we walked on (okay, let's be honest, Anthony walks and I run to keep up with his freakishly long stride), we noticed a shuttle bus off to the right. We both made a bee line for the bus, and were almost the last 2 to get on. It dropped us off right at the gates of Coors Field.

Although it took a few minutes to get through security (I brought a bag for our sunscreen), we made it into the ballpark in time for the National Anthem. We grabbed our hot dogs and headed for our seats. Imagine the pure joy when we heard the usher tell us that our seats were right below the purple seats, which mark the Mile High. Now, on a normal day, being that high would be a huge disappointment, however, on a day like that, we were both ecstatic that we were in the shade! Hallelujah!

The game was great! The team truly showed up to play, and the Rockies swept the Pirates in a 4 game series. There was plenty of excitement, including back to back jacks (home runs for the common folk)! The final score was 11 - 3, and since the Rockies made over 7 runs, we're havin' free tacos tonight!!! Woo-hoo!!! We feel as though we deserved this compensation, after all, the temperature was 110 when we got back in the car...

That was a great game. Glad you got some "together" time. I watched from the air conditioned living room. You are brave fans!
