Halloween Part One

For a family who doesn't "do" Halloween, we certainly do a lot for it! Neither Anthony nor I love this "holiday", and Isabella has decided that it is not her favorite either. But, we'll still dress the girls up and do a few traditional activities!

Last Friday was our first adventure in costume. We were going to one of the local elementary school's Trunk or Treats. Our friend Emily was involved in the Wizard of Oz trunk, and we were excited to see her decked out in her Dorothy glamor!

Isabella was so "essited" to see Ms. Emily and get dressed up as a ballerina. Catherine was less than impressed with our super cute flower costume, but humored us anyway. The excitement was over for Isabella as soon as we got to the trunk. The Wicked Witch of the West was way too scary, and that was that. She now "no likes Halloween."

I bet you didn't know that 11 month old babies are not too old to START sucking on a paci!

Last night was the annual pumpkin carve! This year Isabella opted for a Minnie Mouse pumpkin, and Catherine was going to have a Finding Nemo one. But, Catherine's pumpkin was too small for her Nemo, so she settled for a smiley face instead.

Isabella was pretty pumped up for the project until we cut into the pumpkin. Then she remembered that she doesn't actually like pumpkin carving. So, after watching us dig in the pumpkins for awhile, so ran off to play, only to come back for the candle lighting.

Catherine, on the other hand, was not at all disgusted by the pumpkin insides, and even thought she'd give them a try! She made a super funny face that I did not capture with the camera, but continued to have fun playing with her goo and giving it a try every now and then.

A good time was had by all! This weekend we have more fun planned. I'll be taking the girls to see Anthony and Grandma Becky at work for office trick-or-treating, then Saturday, Anthony and I will head off to the Halloween Costume Party. We'll close our Halloween festivities on Sunday with the Light the Night outreach that we're putting on with our small group. More pictures to come!

The pictures do not do Minnie justice, but believe me, she looks amazing!
